Unit 11 (Trends)
Trends in my country
pros and cons
Traffic congestion:
The good thing about having traffic congestion is that it indicates that our country is growing, and that people have a better economic status. The bad thing is that the increase in vehicles paralyzes traffic, and because of this people are delayed to get to places, and this makes life more hectic.
Working parents:
The good thing about parents working is that they can give their children a better quality of life. The bad thing is that the time parents spend working, they can not share with their children, and this causes an emotional vacuum in the children, and the education they get is not always good, because of almost not sharing with their parents .
Pollution:
Of pollution, I can not say anything good. This only affects, and does not help at all. In my country, pollution seems a tendency, since most people do not worry about cleanliness and wellbeing, both for them and for nature. In my country it is very common to see things that only pollute.
Urban development:
Of urban development, I can say that the good thing is, that makes the place grow, and also, it gives more value. The bad thing is, that the so much to build, ends more with nature.
Unemployment:
Of unemployment, I can say only negative things, since, this affects the country and the people. In our country, today jobs are difficult and scarce. another thing is that face lack more preparation in people. Another problem is that people who are prepared, and have the capacity, are unemployed. Finally, the problem that most affected is the wedge, since people help other people who do not have the capacity, and who do not deserve such positions.
Beauty of women:
A crazy social trend in my country, are liposuction, everyone has their point of view, but this is not good for me, since women have lost their courage and self-esteem, and they do not accept themselves as they are , and how God created them. In addition, these surgeries are risky and expensive.
Fun of young people:
Another crazy trend is, the hooka. This is a converter in one of the most used things in young people. Today, most young people have a hookah and use it daily. The places of entertainment, such as nightclubs, bars, etc. They have hookah. This has been banned a number of times, but people continue to use them. According to my point of view, that is catastrophic, since that affects the health of people, and also does not bring good consequences.
Technology:
Another trend nowadays, is technology. The good thing about technology is that it helps in many things. For example: communication. Many of these devices have multiple uses such as: the cell phone, which serves to communicate, alarm, calendar, notebook, radio, computer, etc. The computer is something that also helps a lot. Most electronic devices have been a success, and also help a lot. The bad thing is, that some contain radiation, and some affect the view, among others. The downside of this trend, is that people always want the latest technological apparatus, and this makes society become competitive, and make unnecessary expenses. Why unnecessary? because many times people have good apartments that practically have the same uses as others, and just by wanting to be fashionable they make unnecessary expenses. Another negative thing is that many times, people use these devices for negative things that do not help at all, and that affect friendship or anything else.
Here I leave you a video of what you can do to protect the environment.

Unit. 10 Fame
Hey guys! Today i'll write about something very important that we saw in Unit. 10
As you can see to use tag questions is very easy! Try to use it! You can!
TAG QUESTIONS.
But, what is a tag question?
It is a statement followed by a mini-question. We use tag questions to ask for confirmation. They mean somenthing like ''Is that right?'' or ''Do you agree?'' They are very common in English.
The structure of a tag question is:
Affirmative statement + negative tag: She loves our country, doesn't she?
Negative statement + affirmative tag: You didn't know he was my brother, did you?
There is a special case. Look at this:
I am in Puerto Rico, aren't I? In this case it's TOTALLY incorrect to say amn't i... IT DOESN'T EXIST.
We also can use tag questions with modals.
I shouldn't eat hamburgers, should I?
She can swim, can't she?
We must go, musn't we?
As you can see to use tag questions is very easy! Try to use it! You can!

Usually, the biggest complications that keep things disorganized financially arise from not doing a few simple things. When you fail to do some or all of these things, it’s easy for your finances to descend into chaos and start causing serious problems in your life.So here are six things you can do to start simplifying how you approach managing your money and learn to more easily keep it under control:
1-Track Your Spending
Start writing down every penny you spend for 30 days. Once you do that you start getting the feel for what you’re spending on everything, then you can begin a monthly budget . I know a budget may sound complicated, but if you do it religiously it saves you a lot of time and money in the long run. It may seem a little difficult to manage at first, but it gets much easier the more you do it.
2-If You’re Married, Combine Your Finances
If you’re married , there shouldn’t be “His” money and “Her” money or “His” bills and “Her” bills. All of it belongs to both of you, as we say here in the South, It’s yall’s money. So always deposit all of the money into one central checking account and distribute it from there. Doing that fosters good communication and, along with a budget agreed on by both of you, will eliminate money fights.
3-Make a “Bills” Calendar
If you have trouble staying organized with paying bills, make a “bills” calendar showing when each bill is due. Review it once a week and pay the bills due for that week.
4-Build an Emergency Fund
When you have money set aside for emergencies, you’re not tempted to go into
credit card or other debt to deal with it. Everybody has the occasional emergency , and if you are already prepared when it comes, that’s one less thing you will have to worry about in a time of crisis, and you won’t have to spend months or years paying it off.
5-Use Cash
Goes along with doing a monthly budget. Once your budget is done, put cash in envelopes for each spending category and spend only cash, only out of those envelopes. This simplifies things because you have a set plan to spend only so much, so you don’t end up spending more than you make.
6-Sell Your Crap
6-Sell Your Crap
Most of us have too much junk that we don’t need, don’t use, and just takes up space. If you never, or rarely ever use it, then sell it, donate it, or give it to someone that can use it. Those things don’t add value to your life and don’t bring you any joy . All they do is take up space and drag you down. So get rid of the junk and pass it along to someone that can enjoy it.

Unit 10. FAME By Wilson Pediet
For this topic I just want to talk about some Dominican Famous.
First I want to start talking about Juan Luis Guerra
First I want to start talking about Juan Luis Guerra
Is the
most internationally recognized Dominican singer/songwriter. His
pop style of Merengue and Bolero and Afro-pop/Latin fusion have garnered him
considerable success outside the Dominican Republic. Juan Luis Guerra is
sometimes associated with the popular Dominican music called Bachata, and while
this association is partially true, he actually uses the basics of Bachata
rhythm with a more bolero feel to the melodies in some of his songs. But he
does not limit himself to one style of music, so he incorporates diverse
rhythms like Merengue, Salsa, Balada, Rock & Roll, and Gospel. "Ojalá
que llueva café" is one of his most acclaimed pieces.
I just
love Juan Luis Guerra music.
Another Dominican famous is Pedro Martinez. He is a legend.
born October 25, 1971, Manoguayabo, Dominican
Republic, professional baseballplayer who in 1997 became the first Latin American
pitcher to strike out 300 batters in a season.
Martínez began his journey to the
major leagues by signing with the National
League Los
Angeles Dodgers in 1988 and made his major league debut with the
Dodgers in 1992.
Martínez became a free agent after
the 2004 season and signed a $53 million four-year contract with the New
York Mets.
Right now Pedro Martinez is in Cooperstown. I am so
proud of him.
My last Dominican famous is Candido Bido
was a Dominican painter and fine artist, He was the first painter from the Dominican Republic
to have an exhibition in France.
Graduating from one of the top 10 schools of fine arts
in the world, the Escuela de Altos de Chavon, he was also an art professor at
the National School of Arts. In 1962 he worked as assistant professor at the
National School of Arts and between 1962 and 1967 he was a Faculty professor at
National School of Arts of Drawing and Arts. He founded in Santo Domingo, Cándido Bidó Art Center, where he taught painting, drawing, and sculpting. In 1987 he closed the art center and left the
Cándido Bidó Art Gallery in Santo Domingo.
He founded the Cultural Center Plaza in Bonao, Dominican Republic de Bonao and the Cándido Bidó Art
Museum, in Bonao, Dominican Republic. 1987. He also founded the School of Arts
of the Dominican Air Force in Santo Domingo in 1996.
I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS PRESENTATION !!!!
Unit 9. Material World By Wilson Pediet
This unit is about Material World. I don't really like this topic because that is something that I don't really care about but this unit is not about material world it is also about grammar. The grammar that I saw in this unit was very interesting and important for me because they are very important in order to improve my English.
I learn about the use of reported speech. In this topic I learn how to say what someone has said. For example:

- I speak English........................... He said that he spoke English
- Do you speak English?............... He asked me if I spoke English
I also learn how to manage my money, this was a very good topic because it show me how to be good managing my money. In order to be good at that I need to have a monthly budget, also to keep track of how much I spend each week. But something important and that I have never done is to set aside money for my education in a savings account.

Unit. 8 Behavior
Hello one more time people!
In unit 8 we learned about Past Modals: Would have, should have and could have.
Remember: You can use these past modals to talk hypothetically about the past. These modals are sometimes called ''modals of lost opportunity'' because they describe situations when we are imagining that the past was different.
Let's talk a little about each one:
Use would have to imagine a result (if something had been different in the past).
For example: If you forget your umbrella, and it starts to rain, and you get wet, you can say:
Use should have to say that a different action was recommended in the past.
For example: If you arrive late to English class, you can say:
Use could have to talk about possibilities if something had been differen in the past.
For example: Someone who didn’t go to college can say:
😁😁😁Guys! I hope this explanation about past modals can help you if you're not clear about this topic. Enjoy it! 😁😁😁

Unit 7. Problem Solving
Hi guys, as a you know, in Unit 7 we saw the topic: Problem Solving.
This time i´m going to write a solution to a problem that i think you probably have had: NOT ENOUGH OPPORTUNITIES TO PRACTICE ENGLISH OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM.
First of all, i know that you want opportunities to practice English outside the classroom, but maybe you can't. Why? Because when you're at home or working you don´t have people to practice English with.
I know how it feels. But, let me tell you something: All problems have a solution. And i'll give you some solutions to that problem...
Try to listen music in English.
Watch TV programs or movies in English.
And of course... Take advantage of the English class's time. Don't speak Spanish there. Think that you have a lot of time outside where you're going to speak Spanish and you only have a few hours in a classroom where you can speak and practice your English.
Hope you put in practice the tips that i gave you today, and see you the next time guys!
